Cosmonaut Alexander Gerst played with the Kraftwerk group right on the ISS

Astronaut Alexander Gerst joined the Kraftwerk electronic music concert during a concert in Stuttgart, Germany, appearing on a huge screen behind the musicians.

Using a tablet on board, the astronaut performed a fragment of the composition “Space Laboratory” from the album 1978 of the year entitled “Die Mensch-Maschine”.

This delighted more than seven thousand spectators of the concert: such an original inclusion in the show was not announced, and was a real gift for them.

“Kraftwerk” is a German musical group from Düsseldorf, who made a significant contribution to the development of electronic music. The group was formed in 1968 by Florian Schneider and Ralph Hütter, but became widely known by becoming a quartet, which also included Wolfgang Flür and Karl Bartos. The first association of these musicians was a quintet, called Organization.
