A video clip of Islam Malsuigenov and Zulfiya Chotchayeva for the song "Stop Music" was released
Back to the 90s! Where music and cinema are on film, bright outfits and bouffant hairstyles are in fashion, young people collect stickers from chewing gum, and the main place for romantic dates is discos...
New clip Islam Malseugenova и Zulfiya Chotchaeva transports the audience exactly in those days, under the well-known composition "Stop Music", which received a new life thanks to the artists.
“It always seemed to me like a disco song,” says Islam, “to which I wanted to dance. But before it sounded slow, so I thought, why not make it more rhythmic? This is how a new track was born, and with it the idea to shoot an atmospheric video.”
The video was directed by Mega Katchiev. Together with director of photography Timur Chekhov and actor Pavel Denisov, they recreated a picture of those years, the heroes of which were the performers of the song, as well as backing vocalists Fatima Kitaeva and Aelita Bostanova.
“I wanted to make a video that, after watching, would leave a warm feeling of nostalgia, a sincere smile and a charge of positive mood,” says Mega Katchiev. “They filmed it in Cherkessk, in the very center of the city, so we didn’t even have to adjust anything to the style of the 90s. The main scenes were filmed at the State Philharmonic of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic in just over two shooting days.
The idea for the video came during a discussion: my friend and colleague, the producer of this video, Jamal Daguzhiev, and I shared our opinions about the track we listened to, and in the process a picture was drawn.
I grew up at a time when, to listen to music, I had to go to the local market and get an audio cassette. There were several points of sale, each of them vying with each other with different motives. Actually, I felt the notes and mood of those years in the performance of Islam and Zulfiya. They reminded me of my 90s. "
The whole team collected clothes for filming, the artists borrowed something from the dressing room of the Karachaev Drama Theater, bought something themselves, and Pavel Denisov, who played the keyboard player, found rare sneakers in his wardrobe and even grew a mustache for filming.
“Well, the girls in the backs seemed to be waiting to be offered roles from the 90s,” says Mega, “to our surprise, they had all the necessary outfits. Aelita Bostanova and Fatima Kitaeva, our gratitude to you!
The same Pavel Denisov helped to find the car. The owner of Moskvich, who gladly agreed to help us, has fully preserved all the original attributes of the car. He himself reconstructs it and, by the way, successfully participates in automobile exhibitions. I also cannot fail to note the work of cameraman Timur Chekhov, who was imbued with the atmosphere of those years and perfectly embodied the idea in the frame. By the way, postproduction also lay on it. I know that I had to spend a lot of time on color correction.
The whole team did a great job. It's nice to work with people when you see this approach. "
Islam Malsuigenov was also pleased with the results of the work, the artist shared that the process itself was no less interesting than the result:
“This retro style added both worries and unusualness. Of course, it was problematic to find the requisites: clothes, tools, appropriate light, everything is not as simple as it seemed at first glance. But this project captivated us, not to mention how nice it was to plunge into the atmosphere of those years again!
How successful the video will be will become clear after the viewer appreciates our work, but we hope everyone will like it. We would like to thank the listeners for the good feedback. We will try to please you with new songs and clips. Further more!"
