Cosmonaut Alexander Gerst played with the band "Kraftwerk" directly on the ISS

Astronaut Alexander Gerst joined the concert of the electronic music group Kraftwerk during a concert in Stuttgart, Germany, appearing on a huge screen behind the musicians.

Using a tablet on board, the astronaut performed a fragment of the composition “Space Laboratory” from the 1978 album called “Die Mensch-Maschine”.

This delighted more than seven thousand spectators of the concert: such an original inclusion in the show was not announced, and was a real gift for them.

Kraftwerk is a German musical group from Düsseldorf that has made a significant contribution to the development of electronic music. The group was formed in 1968 by Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter, but gained widespread fame as a quartet that also included Wolfgang Flühr and Karl Bartos. The first association of these musicians was a quintet called Organisation.
